We were delighted to host Shai, an undergraduate majoring in Biochemistry at the University of Oxford, UK, who joined our lab during the summer break through ShanghaiTech’s international student internship programme.
During his internship, Shai explored cell cycle proteins, focusing on characterising the functions of CDK9 and Cyclin T in Drosophila eye discs. Beyond the lab, he embraced Chinese culture, enjoyed many new experiences, and formed lasting friendships during his time in Shanghai.
Shai has now returned to the UK to continue his degree. Outside of biochemistry, he enjoys listening to music across many genres, playing video games, perfecting his coffee-making skills, and reading philosophy.
